Novel Image Processing Technique for Detection of Brain Inflammatory Diseases Using MRI Images
Résumé
In recent years, image processing has played a vital role in medical applications, particularly in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for monitoring and diagnosing various pathologies. One such pathology is related to brain Inflammatory Diseases (ID), which requires medical imaging in conjunction with clinical tests for accurate identification. However, limited research has been conducted on the detection and classification of Inflammation-Related Lesions (IRL) in the brain. This paper presents an algorithm designed and implemented to address this gap, utilizing MRI output's T2 and FLAIR sequences. The algorithm is implemented using Matlab, and its effectiveness was evaluated on a dataset of 25 patients. The results demonstrate a high detection rate of approximately 85% and an accuracy of the system at around 90%. Moreover, the response time of the proposed algorithm is within few milliseconds.
